There are fashion rules I remember learning in home economics class in high school: no white socks with black trousers, match your belt and shoes, never wear black and brown together, wear appropriate colors for the season, and never mix patterns. Some fashion rules have their place and work as useful guidelines when creating a pleasant aesthetic but it is still fun to bend the rules just a teensy bit. Today I felt very cute in my striped shirt and polkadot dress even if the patterns did not match.
