This week I'm trying out a series of Valentine's Day themed outfits. Bring on the pink, the bows, the lace, and sparkles because I want to feel festive. Valentine's Day is one of those funny holidays that tend to make people sad if they aren't in a relationship or under pressure if they are in a relationship. All the same, I like an excuse to dress girly and buy pretty flowers. In grade school Valentine's Day was always an exciting time to bring in treats for the class when everyone was required to give a valentine to everyone else so our desks were overflowing with printed cartoon character and holographic cardboard cards and lollypops. In high school there was an unspoken competition amongst girls of who would be carrying around the most flowers by the end of the day. Today Valentine's Day is a time for baking, for dressing cute, and for letting the people around me know how much I care about them in creative ways. I like any excuse for random acts of kindness. This year I want to arrange flowers in glass jars and give them to my roommates.
Today's photo shoot was incredibly peaceful. Snow was falling softy and I could hear organ music drifting out of the cathedral. As far as my outfit goes, I honestly feel so-so about this one. In an ideal world, my tights would be a lighter shade of gray with sparkles and my shoes would be bright turquoise to match the stripe in my sweater. Try to imagine it. Sigh...if only I could conjure the exact items I wanted whenever I wanted.
