Celebrity Style Crush: Sylvie Vartan

1960s Paris saw the rise of this beautiful singer, Sylvie Vartan. This young girl began recording music straight out of high school and went on to perform in movies and TV shows. Sylvie gave concerts across Europe, The United States, and Asia.  She is remembered today as one of the most glamorous stars of the yé-yé movement, French/Italian/Spanish pop music of the 1960s that spread to Britain and the Americas. Yé-yé derives from English speakers shouting "Yeah! Yeah!"at concerts.

Sylvie seems to embody that carefree summer feeling we've all been daydreaming about through the winter months. I love her pretty girl bangs and breezy look; she must have known how cool she was. These photos were taken by Jean-Marie Perier, a prominent celebrity and advertising photographer of the 1960s and 70s who also worked with the Beatles, John Hallyday (who married our darling Sylvie Vartan for a period), Mick Jagger, James Brown, and countless other big names.
