Betina Lou to You Too

While most of the designers I follow on are European, it's always a treat to discover ethical clothing manufacturers based in North America. This dress was made by Betina Lou, a sustainable design company from Montreal who I've had my eye on for ages. Betina Lou creates small batch clothing from responsibly sourced materials. The cuts are feminine, versatile, and definite high quality investment pieces. I purchased my dress via Shop A Clothes Horse (a secondhand pop-up closet shop run by Rebecca of A Clothes Horse blog) because how could I resist one of my favorite designers being sold affordably from one of my favorite bloggers? Through little investment purchases here and there, my goal is to work up a wardrobe that I love and feel proud of.

I actually bought this dress a few months ago thinking it would be perfect for Christmas time. I had planned on styling it with sparkly red tights for a semi-formal festive look but when I woke up this morning, I just didn't feel like looking formal and festive. Throwing my plans out the window, I swapped out my red sparkles and black flats for turquoise tights and yellow rain boots and left the house feeling just right. Lately I've been a big fan of black and white with pops of color. Black and white is one of those classic combinations in fashion that has been around seemingly forever. While the contrast of black and white looks inherently good on its own, it's fun to add splashes of color to the duo don't you think?
On a complete side note, I just discovered that yellow holly berries exist.
They might be my new favorite Christmas thing.
